From toothpaste to timber — we use over 2000 products made from wood every day. Visit us at the Forestry Building to learn where many of these products come from, how they are manufactured and gain a clearer understanding of our connection to the forest. Forests are all around us from the small forests in our back yards and urban areas to larger forests in rural areas throughout the state. There are many ways we depend upon and benefit from these forests. They provide clean air and water, beautiful scenery, and places to relax and recreate. They also support the wood products and tourism industries. There will be new exhibits that illustrate how we use this valuable resource wisely and sustainably. Each year we have a featured tree species. This year our focus is the importance of Black Cherry for its valued lumber and wildlife uses.
As always, the building is staffed with friendly, knowledgeable volunteers who can answer your questions about the exhibits and about Vermont forests. Your interest and suggestions are important to us. See you at the Fair. 

Farm Museums

Each year interest in our Farm Museum of antique tools, household items and farm machinery has increased. We feel that this museum is definitely a permanent part of the Fair, therefore, we have created a special department for it.Daily demonstrations have been planned throughout the week for the pleasure of the visitors and the renewal of memories of the “by gone” days relating to life on the early farms of Vermont.Some of the demonstrations will be — Spinning Wheels, Operating Loom 

Scotty McCreery

SCOTTY MCCREERY

Will be at the Vermont State Fair on Saturday, September 8th.

 In May of 2011, he won Season Ten of American Idol. His album’s debut single, “I Love You This Big,” became a Top 15 hit and enjoyed the highest-charting debut for a new artist since at least 1984, while the video for the song hit No. 1 in just a week after its release.

He continued that winning streak on the stage of American Idol, where he became the youngest male winner and the only country male winner in the show’s history.

On April 1, 2012 Scotty won his first ACM Award for New Artist of the Year.

Vermont State Fair Will Open This Friday at 5pm

We continue to receive numerous phone calls and emails asking if the Vermont State Fair will be opening on Friday, September 2nd as originally planned. We are pleased to say that barring any other unforeseen circumstance; we WILL be opening at 5pm this Friday. We may have a few minor changes in our daily event schedules as time goes on and those changes will be posted on our website as they are made.

Tractor Pulls

TRACTOR PULLS - NYTPA

On Labor Day, during the 2011 Fair,
the New York Tractor Pullers Association
will be giving you a show that you will be talking about for days.

We have packaged four classes to include
Super Stock Tractors, Modified Tractors (multi-motors), Two Wheel
Drive Trucks and Super Farm Tractors.

Vince Gill

VINCE GILL is coming to the Vermont State Fair

Saturday, September 10th - 7:30 p.m.

Vince has sold more than 26 million albums. He has earned 18 CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year in 1993 and 1994. He is tied with George Strait for having won the most CMA Male Vocalist Awards (five), and is currently second only to Brooks and Dunn for accumulating the most CMA Awards in history. 

Vince is a member of the Grand Ole Opry and has received 19 Grammy Awards to date, the most of any male Country artist. In August of 2007, the Country Music Association inducted Vince as the newest member of the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame.
